K1 Class Association Open 2017 # 5
15th - 16th July 2017, starting at 10:00am
A better day could not have been asked for, or delivered, by Oxford sailing clubm and it’s officers. The weather started a little damp as we set up, then dried for the event, and then the damp returned later on, so a bright day, out of direct sun, with reasonable winds through the day, not too little or too much, Couldn’t ask for more, and the grub was good.
After a quick check with competitors, it was agreed we would try to run a number of shorter races, especially if the field had quickly separated, so we set of before lunch expecting and getting two races. David Hume (Broxbourne SC) showed consistent dominance, wining both races, although at times through each race, Mike Deane (South Winderemere SC) and Grant Brown (Tewkesbury SC) had put their bows ahead of David.
After lunch was time for a showdown, except Hume had other ideas, and capitalising on small mistakes, he took the first two races of the afternoon, winning the event. He then decided to sit out the last race, allowing Deane some consolation, after a tussle with both Brown and David Prtichet (Rutland SC).
A great event with great winds, enjoyed by all.

Second Mike Deane
Third Grant Brown
